인포보그의 계보Five Lineages of the Infoborg

인포보그의 존재론적 형식은 사이버네틱스에서 온다. 인간과 기계를 똑같이 정보·피드백·제어의 회로로 기술하는 관점, 그리고 체계가 스스로를 참조하며 질서를 만들어내는 자기조직화·자기참조의 논리. 인포보그가 ‘호출→연산→자기참조’의 순환으로 작동한다는 발상의 뿌리가 여기 있다.

The Infoborg’s ontological form comes from cybernetics — the view that describes human and machine alike as circuits of information, feedback, and control, and the logic of self-organization and self-reference by which a system produces order by referring to itself. The idea that the Infoborg runs as a loop of “call → calculation → self-reference” is rooted here.

포스트휴먼 사유는 인간-기계의 경계를 해체하고, 주체를 고립된 개인이 아니라 관계적·네트워크적 효과로 다시 본다. 해러웨이의 사이보그 선언이 자연/문화·인간/기계의 이분법을 무너뜨린 자리에서, 인포보그는 ‘데이터 네트워크의 노드로서의 주체’라는 형상을 물려받는다.

Posthuman thought dismantles the human–machine boundary and re-sees the subject not as an isolated individual but as a relational, networked effect. Where Haraway’s cyborg manifesto collapses the dualisms of nature/culture and human/machine, the Infoborg inherits the figure of the subject as a node in a data network.

바이오미디어 이론은 생명 자체를 정보로 변환 가능한 것으로 재정의한다. 유전 코드가 데이터로 읽히고 다시 쓰이는 순간, 신체는 매체가 된다. 인포보그에서 ‘감정·기억·신체가 데이터로 분리된다’는 전제는 이 흐름에 빚지고 있으며, 동시에 비호출 존재가 묻는 ‘그렇다면 무엇이 끝내 변환되지 않는가’의 출발점이기도 하다.

Biomedia theory redefines life itself as something convertible into information. The moment genetic code is read and rewritten as data, the body becomes a medium. The Infoborg’s premise that “emotion, memory, and body are separated into data” is indebted to this current — and is also the starting point of the question the Non-Callable asks: what, then, is never converted?

감정과 기억을 신경 활동의 패턴으로 측정·모델링하려는 연구는, 가장 사적이라 여겨졌던 내면조차 데이터화될 수 있다는 실증적 근거를 제공한다. 인포보그가 단순한 은유가 아니라 동시대의 실제 조건임을 보증하는 층위다 — 슬픔과 사랑마저 연산 가능한 단위가 되는 지점.

Research that measures and models emotion and memory as patterns of neural activity supplies the empirical ground that even the supposedly most private interior can be datafied. This is the layer that warrants the Infoborg as not mere metaphor but an actual contemporary condition — the point where even grief and love become computable units.

육후이(Yuk Hui)는 기술을 도구가 아니라 존재를 구성하는 형이상학적 조건으로 본다. 기술적 대상과 우주기술(cosmotechnics)의 사유는, 인포보그를 ‘기술에 의해 매개된 존재’가 아니라 ‘기술적으로 구성되는 존재’로 정식화하게 해 준다. 계보의 마지막 갈래이자, 다섯 자원을 하나의 존재론으로 묶는 매듭이다.

Yuk Hui sees technology not as a tool but as a metaphysical condition that constitutes being. His thinking of technical objects and cosmotechnics lets me formulate the Infoborg not as a being “mediated by” technology but as one “technically constituted.” It is the final strand of the genealogy and the knot that binds the five sources into a single ontology.

이 다섯 자원이 교차하는 자리에서 인포보그가 출현한다 — 사이버네틱스의 회로, 포스트휴먼의 네트워크 주체, 바이오미디어의 변환 가능한 생명, 신경과학의 데이터화된 내면, 육후이의 기술적 구성. 그리고 이 존재론을 끝까지 밀어붙였을 때 남는 잔여가 비호출 존재다.

The Infoborg emerges where these five sources cross — the circuit of cybernetics, the networked subject of the posthuman, the convertible life of biomedia, the datafied interior of neuroscience, and Yuk Hui’s technical constitution. And the remainder left when this ontology is pushed to its limit is the Non-Callable.
